“PDH-GS120” successfully flew on bioethanol fuel

PRODRONE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Shunsuke Toya, hereinafter referred to as PRODRONE) is working to solve social issues through its business in order to achieve the goals of SDGs and realize a sustainable society. In an effort to realize a carbon-neutral society, PRODRONE is pleased to announce that it has successfully flown its unmanned helicopter PDH-GS120 using only bioethanol fuel. This time, PRODRONE was able to successfully fly using PDH-GS120, a 99.8% pure bioethanol made in Japan, as fuel (*) after reviewing the engine internals. This bioethanol fuel is no different from alcohol in terms of quality. Although the fuel efficiency is lower than with regular gasoline, it was able to fly for more than an hour without a payload, and was also quieter during flight. The unmanned helicopter PDH-GS120 can fly in harsh environments such as during disasters and strong winds where charging is difficult. PRODRONE will continue to develop unmanned helicopters and drones that contribute to solving social and regional issues, with the aim of realizing a carbon-neutral society. *Biofuel (gasoline) sold at gas stations is a mixture of gasoline and bioethanol (several percent to several tens of percent).
