Successful demonstration experiment of a drone mountain rescue support system aimed at rescuing victims climbing Mt. Fuji

PRODRONE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Masakazu Kono, hereinafter referred to as PRODRONE) is collaborating with KDDI Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Makoto Takahashi, hereinafter referred to as KDDI) to develop a 4G service for the purpose of rescuing people who are climbing Mt. We have successfully conducted a demonstration experiment (hereinafter referred to as this demonstration experiment) of a drone mountain rescue support system (hereinafter referred to as this system) that utilizes an autonomously flying mountain drone (Note) that utilizes an LTE mobile communication network, a location information notification/monitoring service, and a high-definition weather prediction system. We will work towards actual operation of this system during the Mt. Fuji opening period in 2019.

Drone mountain rescue support system demonstration experiment

When rescuing people in distress while mountain climbing, there are issues such as the length of time required for rescue because it is difficult to grasp the location of the victim and the situation at the scene, and rescue not possible due to bad weather. By identifying the whereabouts of the person in distress and confirming the situation at the distress location, we aim to improve the speed and efficiency of rescue operations. For this demonstration experiment, PRODRONE provided the mountain aircraft and was in charge of coordinating the flight route and conducting the flight.
