For the first time in Japan, Ina City, Nagano Prefecture has started demonstrations to commercialize logistics that combines the construction of a new drone logistics system with the main route over a river and the formation of a supply chain through public-private collaboration.

PRODRONE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Masakazu Kono, hereinafter referred to as PRODRONE) is a joint venture between KDDI Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Makoto Takahashi, hereinafter referred to as KDDI) and Zenrin Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, President and Representative Director: Zenji Takayama, hereinafter referred to as KDDI). We will participate in the Ina City Drone Logistics Project (hereinafter referred to as the "Project") with the aim of commercializing it in collaboration with Zenrin and others.

Project overview

In recent years, due to the declining birthrate, aging population, and depopulation, some regions have weakened distribution functions and transportation networks, and an increasing number of people, especially the elderly, are finding it inconvenient and difficult to purchase food and eat and drink. This situation has become an urgent issue for Ina City as well. Therefore, in this project, we will collaborate with local residents and local businesses to build a regional logistics system using drones to revitalize distribution in hilly and mountainous areas, reduce the number of vulnerable shoppers, and develop the local economy.
